geometry is the study of Shapes, Angles and Lines.
We will start by studying three dimensional shapes. A three dimensional shape has length, width(depth), and height. The shapes we will be looking at are cubes, prisms, pyramids, cones, cylinders and spheres. Part of understanding solid figures is to be able to count, edges, vertices and faces.
Faces, Edges and Vertices Study Jams
solid figures
Next we will look at types of lines, rays and line segments.
Study Jams- Types of Lines
After we know our lines, we will study the three types of angles, acute, obtuse and right angles. Angles Study Jams
Once we know our angles we will look at Triangles. Study Jams

Geometry Part Deux (2)
Part two is the study of area and perimeter.
Perimeter is the amount of boarder you would need to go around a bedroom you are redecorating.
When finding perimeter you are finding the outside edge of a figure. In order to find the perimeter you add all of the sides. If it is a rectangle you use the formula P=2L+2W. L is the Length and W is the width. If you are looking for the perimeter of a square use the formula P= 4xs. S is the measure of one side.
Math Model Perimeter
Study Jams Perimeter
Area is the amount of space within the figure. Think of the number of tiles on the floor as area.
We will only look at the area of squares and rectangles for fourth grade.
To find the area of a rectangle you use the formula A=LxW Area is equal to length times width. It is measured in square units.
